Jack Rice updated the Committee on the status of identification cards for RASCC and indicated that, in the future, I.D.’s will be issued upon the time of retirement from the College.  For those members who have already had their photos taken, Jack noted that he is waiting for the software to become available and will report back to the group at the March 4th meeting.

Retirees may visit any of the following locations to have a photo taken for their I.D. cards:  Selden Campus: Human Resources, the Library, or the Registrar’s office; Grant Campus (West): the Security Building or Registrar’s Office; Eastern Campus:  the Library.

Jack will also check with the Director of Security, John Williams, to see if some parking spaces can be reserved for RASCC on meeting days.

1)         Old Business

Charlie Reilly reported that, due to lack of attendance, the Florida reunion of retirees has been cancelled for this year.

2)                  Upcoming Planned Events

·        Jim Brennan has reserved 100 tickets for the Ducks Game on August 12, 2005.  RASCC will co-sponsor this event with the College’s Alumni Association.

A suggestion was made to have Jim check to see if it would be possible to have a section reserved for our group so that everyone would be seated together.

·        Ginny Trombetta informed the Committee that a picnic at the Country Fair in Medford would cost $26.95 p.p. ($19.95 for children ages 3-12) which includes 2 hours of unlimited sirloin burgers, hot dogs, 3 side dishes, fruit, lemonade and iced tea.  In addition, the price also covers 4 hours of unlimited rides, including: go-karts, mini-golf, batting cage and golf driving range.  Ginny will call her contact to see if alcohol is allowed on the premises.  It was agreed that the second week of July would be a good time to hold this event.

·        Jim Brennan will report on the dinner and wine tasting event at the March meeting.

David Miller indicated that he is in touch with Rich Frielick, who heads up the Culinary Arts program at the Eastern Campus, and would be willing to speak to Rich about planning something else, if dinner at the Touch of Venice does not work out.

·        Mary Donohue reported that 4 cabins have been booked for the Bermuda Cruise, from May 28th to June 4th, but that there is still room for anyone still interested in taking this trip.

3)                  New Business

·        Corita Kong researched the Lecture Series offerings at the College and suggested “A Woman Am I,” on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 11:00 am., at the Grant Campus Theatre in Brentwood. Corita also suggested that those attending the lecture, might like to have lunch at the Bonwit Inn on Motor Parkway and will make a reservation at the restaurant for those planning to attend.  Admission to the lecture is free.

Corita also suggested the productions “Forbidden Hollywood,” on March 12th and the “Best of Broadway” on April 23rd, at the Grant Campus.  She will contact the Theatre Office to see if tickets are available for both of these performances.  President Herron will send out an e-mail notice to local members announcing these events and Bud Macy will include this information in the next issue of the RASCC newsletter.

·        Grace McGorry informed the group that the Staller Center will be presenting
the ballet, “Romeo and Juliet,” on April 9th.  Tickets for seniors are $31.00, and dinner will be at Mario’s Restaurant on
Motor Parkway.  Those who are interested in attending this event should call Grace.

·        Pete Herron advised the group of the “Newport, Rhode Island Flower Show and Garden Lover’s Tour” with New England Tours, leaving from the Port Jefferson Ferry dock on June 23rd.  This is an overnight trip includes one night lodging, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner and entrance fee to the Flower and Garden Show, for the cost of $295 p.p.  Payment must be made in full by June 2nd.  This information will also be included in the upcoming issue of the newsletter.
